Julián Carrillo y el Sonido Trece
En la historia de la música occidental, se adoptó un sistema de afinación en el cual los instrumentos dan una serie de notas, las cuales tienen una distancia igual entre si. El Clave Bien Temperado del compositor Johann Sebastian Bach fue el primer gran libro donde se pone en practica la afinación siempre igual.
Éste sistema fue poco a poco ganando lugar para después ser adoptado por casi toda Europa y América. En Oriente, Asia y África, aún siguen usando otros sistemas no occidentales.
Julián Carrillo tiene importancia por el estudio sistemático que realizó sobre las alturas en la música, catalogó los diferentes intervalos que hay entre cada nota y le llamó Sonido Trece. Agregó tercios, cuartos, sextos y octavos de tonos a su sistema.
Anterior a él, sólo había un semitono entre cada nota, es decir, entre Do y Re sólo hay Do sostenido. Ahora hay Do un cuarto de sostenido, dos cuartos etc. Además fue creando un sistema numérico donde para él, facilita la comprensión de su sistema.
